PRIVACY POLICY

Cosmos Atlas · cosmosatlas.org · last updated 23 August 2026

Cosmos Atlas exists so that anyone — including people who will never reach a telescope — can see and feel space. Respecting the people who visit is part of that mission. This page explains, in plain language, what little we collect and why.

What we collect

If you just visit: nothing personal. We use Cloudflare's privacy-first analytics, which counts visits without cookies, fingerprinting, or tracking you across the web.

If you create an account: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash — we never see or store the password itself). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google; we never see your Google password. Your account exists so your favorites, settings, and exploration progress can follow you between devices.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone. We show no advertising and use no advertising trackers. We collect nothing beyond what the features you use require.

Where your data lives

Account data is stored with Supabase, our authentication and database provider, and served through Cloudflare. Both act as processors on our behalf and are bound by their own security and privacy commitments.

Cookies & local storage

When you sign in, a session token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. That's it — no third-party or advertising cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see, correct, or permanently delete the data tied to your account, and we will do it. Signing out removes the session from your device.

Children

Cosmos Atlas is made for curious people of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; an account is never required to view the universe's public pages.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and meaningful changes will be announced on the site.
